15th Street Marina in Fort Lauderdale has long been cherished for its charming environment and scenic views. As with all properties, though, it eventually came time for a comprehensive overhaul. The Sea Me Dive team embarked on an ambitious project to restore and enhance this beloved marina, ensuring it remained a secure and welcoming place for all.
The project began with the demolition and removal of five finger docks on the north side of the property. Our crew methodically dismantled the old dock frames and top decking, ensuring safe and environmentally friendly disposal of all materials. This phase was crucial for laying the groundwork for the new and improved docks.
After the old docks were cleared away, we constructed new dock frames using marine-grade lumber for the framing and stainless steel (SST) hardware. We also added additional lower diagonal cross-member supports made from 2’x 8’ composite materials. This robust construction ensures the docks will withstand the harsh marine environment for years to come. Next, we installed 1’ x 6’ Wear Deck composite decking, secured with SST hardware. This high-quality decking material offers exceptional durability and resistance to the elements, providing a safe and stable surface for marina visitors.
In tandem with the dock work, we undertook extensive repairs and restoration of the seawall and cap. This included:
Concrete restoration was a critical aspect of this project. We worked on the pile caps and seawall caps on the north side and repaired concrete panels on the south side and under the restaurant area. Using fiberglass composite rebar and constructing forms for encasements, we repaired and reinforced the concrete with 5000 PSI grout. This ensures the structures are resilient and ready to face the elements.
Through careful planning and execution, Sea Me Dive has revitalized the Fort Lauderdale Marina. These upgrades enhance the marina’s functionality and safety while preserving its charm and appeal.
