Sea Me Dive was contracted to perform a comprehensive seawall repair and restoration project in Eastern Shores. The condominium needed extensive repairs, some of which could have been prevented by regular inspections and maintenance. Sea Me Dive was happy to jump right in and get this wall functioning again!
The first step was to seal all the King pilings. Using 8000 PSI grout, we meticulously applied this high-strength material from the canal berm up to just beneath the concrete cap. By utilizing a strong grout, we ensured that the pilings would remain solid and secure, providing a stable foundation for the entire structure. Sealing the piles also prevents any sediment from leaking out from the other side of the wall, which would cause sinkholes.
Following this, we focused on repairing the seawall panels and cap. This was completed by demolishing the compromised sections of the seawall to prepare for effective repairs, installing a durable structural mesh to add strength and stability to the seawall, and using high-strength hydraulic concrete grout to seal and reinforce the repaired areas from the canal berm up to just beneath the concrete cap.
To further enhance the seawall’s performance, we installed a state-of-the-art Jet Filter System. This system involves core drilling at the mid-tide line and features a 4″ diameter 316 stainless steel (SST) Jet Filter. These filters work to decrease the hydrostatic pressure on the wall (AKA the water pressure) and work to prevent cracks from forming in the wall.
